1. Data controller
The Hunterology website is published by the following person, the controller of your data, to whom any question or request about it should be addressed:
- Name: MEFTAH Soufiane
- Status: private individual (non-commercial activity)
- Contact: contact@hunterologyhq.com or the contact form
2. Data collected
- Account : username, email address, password (stored with irreversible hashing), profile picture if you add one.
- Linked Steam account : Steam ID (SteamID64), public Steam name, avatar and country, as well as the games, achievements, unlock dates and playtime made public by your Steam profile.
- Consents : version and acceptance date of this policy, newsletter subscription date.
- Contact form : name, email address, category, subject and content of your message, the team’s reply.
- Security : IP address and browser tied to your session, log of moderation actions concerning you.
Hunterology only uses the public data provided by the official Steam interface (Valve), and only for members who linked their Steam account themselves: no player is added without knowing it. If your Steam profile or game details become private, your profile is automatically removed from the rankings.
You can unlink your Steam account or delete your account from your settings at any time (permanent erasure after 30 days), or request the complete removal of your profile through the contact form.
3. Purposes and legal bases
- Creating and managing your account, calculating and displaying your ranking: performance of the service.
- Fighting fraud (quarantines, bans): legitimate interest in ensuring a fair ranking. Every decision is reviewed by a human.
- Sending you the newsletter: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Retention periods
- Unvalidated sign-up request: deleted once the code expires.
- Deleted account: kept for 30 days (can be restored), then erased.
- Contact message: kept until it is closed, then for 12 months, then deleted.
- Permanently banned account: kept for 12 months (appeal, disputes), then erased; only the Steam ID remains on the list of banned accounts, to prevent a new account.
5. Recipients
Your data is neither sold nor transferred. Your username, picture and statistics are public on your profile. Moderation team members access them within the limits of their duties.
Technical provider processing data on behalf of Hunterology: the host OVH SAS (servers located in the European Union). Details in the legal notice.
6. Cookies
Hunterology only sets cookies that are strictly necessary for the website to work or that you requested; the law exempts them from consent. None is used to track you or to show you advertising:
- “hunterology-session”: your session (login, forms); deleted after 2 hours of inactivity.
- “XSRF-TOKEN”: protects forms against forged submissions; same lifetime as the session.
- “remember_web_…”: only if you tick “Remember me”; 13 months at most.
- “locale”: the language you chose; 13 months.
No analytics, tracking or advertising cookie is set: that is why no cookie banner is shown to you. If advertising is ever enabled, a certified consent banner will ask for your agreement before any such cookie is set, with refusing as easy as accepting.
Audience measurement: Hunterology counts page views and visits of its public pages to know its traffic and where it comes from, without cookies and without reading or storing anything on your device (a visit is an arrival on the website). Only daily, per-page and per-origin totals are recorded (for the origin: the name of the site you came from, for example a search engine, never the full address of the page), with no IP address and no identifier. These figures cannot identify you.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to, restrict and port your data. You can delete your account from your settings or write to us at the address above. You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country: in Belgium, the Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be); in France, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
