About us
A community of achievement hunters
passionate and determined to take on every challenge.
Hunterology was born from a passion: achievement hunting. Those hours spent tracking down the last achievement, replaying a boss for a hidden achievement, aiming for 100%. Our goal is simple: give this passion the recognition it deserves and bring hunters from all over the world together around a fair, transparent and motivating ranking.

How does the ranking work?
Not all achievements are equal. Unlocking an achievement that 80% of players own has nothing to do with a feat reserved for a handful of them. Hunterology therefore rewards rarity.
-
From 1 to 100 points per achievement, based on the percentage of Steam players worldwide who have earned it. The rarer it is, the more it is worth.
-
25% bonus for a game completed at 100%. Finishing a game earns an extra share of its points: the harder the game, the bigger the bonus.
-
Value locked in at unlock. Pioneers keep their points, even if the achievement becomes more common later: your score never goes down.
-
No room for farming. Beyond 1,000 points in a single game, each extra point counts for half. “Junk” games (huge numbers of achievements, identical rarities everywhere, 100% in under an hour of play, almost no Steam reviews) are reviewed by the team and can be excluded from the score.
-
Verified rarity. On a barely played game, a low percentage does not prove difficulty: until the game has 1,000 Steam reviews, its achievements earn less (3 points at most without any review).
-
A fair ranking. Suspicious unlocks are put under review and examined by a moderator before any decision; games designed to “farm” achievements earn no points. Steam Achievement Manager (SAM) and any unlocking tool are forbidden: using them is punished by a permanent ban.
One score, several rankings:

Point examples
| Earned by | Points |
|---|---|
| 80% of players | 1 |
| 50% of players | 2 |
| 10% of players | 5 |
| 5% of players | 7 |
| 1% of players | 22 |
| ≤ 0.1% of players | 100 |
Progressive, capped curve: common achievements earn little, feats earn a lot, without any single achievement outweighing everything else.
Tiers, titles and badges
From Novice to Absolute Legendary, every tier you reach earns you a title and a badge shown on your profile. From Expert onwards, your badge is surrounded by an aura of power that grows stronger with each tier, and your avatar and username shine brighter too.

Thresholds are fixed and a tier never expires. Should the scoring ever change, it would be announced in advance and applied to everyone in the same way.
Aim for 100%
Completing a game at 100% is the mark of a true hunter. Every completed game gets its ribbon on your profile and in the catalogue, and counts in your completion statistics, overall and by genre.
Hunt the rarities
Achievements earned by fewer than 10% of players get a golden frame. They are what makes the difference in the ranking: a single ultra rare achievement is worth as much as about ten common ones.
